WHY AN ORDER

Why an Order of Knighthood and not

Another Kind of Association ?

Because a classic association does not have, the ethical "means" of working that has an Order. An Order is something fundamentally different of a football club, for example. It transcends all kinds of organisations whatever they are. Its Active Members:

-  Take the oath to the organisation.  (A reminder of the feudal homage).

-  Promise to help each other.  (It is the Auxilium and the Concilium of the Middle Ages).

-  Consider other Members of the Order as Brothers and Sisters. (It is the spirit of the monastic Orders and of the Orders of Knighthood of the past).

-  Develop a feeling of adherence.  (It is the conscience of the group).

-  Are initiated to great human values.  (Savoir-vivre, étiquette, politeness, etc.)

-  Commit themselves solemnly towards the Order and its Members. (It is a feudal homage taking the noble assembly as a witness).

-  Are raised to the Knight's title according to long existing symbolic and traditional rituals (symbolism of the purification by the four elements, the charge of the sword, la collée, etc.)

-  Commit to respect and apply the directives and orders of the Master Council.  (Another reminder of the feudal homage).

An Order of Knighthood in our Time, an Anachronism ?

Absolutely, if you take only into account its institutional aspect. Then there is effectively a contradiction, an anachronism. The knighthood is "par excellence" the remnant of the Middle Ages. Certainly not, if you consider its timeless missions : Exoteric (ethical and deontology) and Esoteric (initiation).

The Knighthood is a state of mind that extols the justice, the rectitude, and the respect of one and others.

-  It is humanist since it instils, to the daily, the fraternity and tolerance.

-  It is moralist because it requires the application, to the letter, of ethical and deontological rules of high probity.

-  It is perfectible because it orders the respect of the word given and expects its Members that they respect and apply, at all times and in all places, the rules of courtesy and of savoir-vivre.
